mal:url, ping.exe problem

Avast started tonight to give me warnings that it was blocking access to/from certain websites. The virus noted was mostly Mal:URL. Running MBAM gave me 3 hits the first time. Ran it again, and no hits. One more time and got one more hit. Different things each time, all in Windows\Temp.
All quarantined and removed, but it seems to come back.

Avast put a couple of files into the chest, but warnings persist.

ping.exe is running high CPU. I kill it and it starts up again a little while later, high cpu again.

Strange things happening with IE. Ran CCleaner earlier as well.

I have run OTL. Outputs are attached as well as disk management screenshot.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Ed

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

ComboFix took quite a while to run. Said computer had the ZeroAccess rootkit embedded in the tcp/ip stack. After it ran and said it fixed things, computer seems to be running OK. Don’t have enough time to really check it out right now, but things seem to be much better. Haven’t seen any suspicious activity or strange things going on yet.

I’ve attached log file from OTL and ComboFix.

Looks like between OTL and combofix we have cleared it. A final check for orphans and once you are happy I will remove my tools

Please download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
[*]Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
[*]If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
[*]Once the program has loaded, select “Perform Quick Scan”, then click Scan.
[*]The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
[*]When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
[*]Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
[]When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
[
]The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
[*]Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Looks like things are cleaned up. Thanks so much! You helped me out a couple of years ago with a mess on my own laptop. This is my wife’s. She has Avast running all the time and actually has MBAM installed though doesn’t run it regularly. Hopefully she will now.

Here is the report from MBAM:
