I love Avast and have used it for the last few years.
When I purchased my new PC six months ago (Running Vista Home Premium),I immediately installed Avast free version.
It’s been running fine,until tonight.
I got a warning from Windows Security Centre that my Malware Protection is ‘Off’.
Under that it says ‘Avast Anti Virus Reprts That It Is Turned Off’.
When I go to turn it on,I get a rude noise and a window pops up saying ‘File System Shield Provider Not Found’.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I don’t like being ‘unprotected’! :-\
Does a restart help…?

Try a hard boot and see if this fixes the problem.
I had a similar problem…I scanned with Mallwarebytes and It found some Mirar toolbar and a few smaller problems…I would do a Scan with SuperAntiSpyware in it’s safe mode, if you have it …Also make sure you set it to scan for tracking cookies…I have it just for a second scanner free version…Or do a Mallwarebytes Scan if… you ave it…Also check to see in your “Services” if your Security centre is turned off there…let me know how it goes…
Did you try to repair avast in the Control Panel?
