I hate Firefox >:(

OK could you run Firefox in safe mode and let me know if the problem stops

http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

When I run Firefox in Safe mode, it doesnt show these pop ups when visiting a search engine. But when Firefox is running in safe mode, chrome triggers these pop ups, while visiting a search engine.

I will try and remove it a different way. If this fails would you be happy to go into the registry ?

Logs Attached. Problem Not solved yet. I am Ok with going in to the registry.

OK run regedit

Locate :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\mozilla\Firefox\Extensions

One of the values should read :

searchpredict@speedbit.com:

Delete that value only

If it still returns I will have to do a registry search… (OK I have a tool for that )

There is only one registry entry in that path. It’s name is set to “Default” and its value field says it has no value set.

Also, You had asked, whether I use a router and are the other computers using this router experiencing the same problem.
I had answered that I am using a wireless router and the other computer in this connection isn’t experiencing any such problem.

But then I just now noticed that the other computer doesn’t have Avast as its anti-virus. It uses something called “Panda GP automatic protection”. I thought I should let you know this.

Looks like the only other alternative is to do a full uninstall of Firefox and then reinstall are you happy with that ?

I reinstalled Firefox and found that the problem was gone in Firefox. But it still remained with Chrome and IE. So I reinstalled all the browsers one by one and no more pop ups. I didn’t know that it was this simple. So am I good now? Or is there something I need to do?

Also, how to clean my system of the files created by the applications you had asked me to run. I mean, how to uninstall everything and clear log files and stuff?

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee362/Essexboy3/Misc%20screen%20shots/CF_Uninstall-1.jpg

[]Follow the prompts on the screen
[
]A message should appear confirming that ComboFix was uninstalled

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

[*]Select folder options (Appearance > Folder options in category view)
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.
