Malicious URL Blocked warning popping up everywhere

I need help fixing this issue. It happens with Firefox only and just about on any action. I have tried many things listed in forums and none of them have worked. It looks like OTL will find and help remove the problem but I have no idea how to read the files it generates or tell it how to fix the problem. If someone here can help me this would be great and much appreciated.

hi FauxZen,

Welcome to the forums. [EDIT:] Removed unnecessary information.

You’ll need the support and advice of a certified malware removal expert. To get that help, you’ll need to run and attach the following four logs from these four programs:

  • AdwCleaner
  • Malwarebytes
  • OTL
  • aswMBR.exe

You can get them here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

You can attach up to four logs on one post. Once that is done, I will notify a malware expert.

Here are the logs.

And the Extras log from OTL

Thank you for the welcome, short orientation and super thanks for the help with the Malicious URL!

Excellent job!

Now off to find a malware expert for you posthaste.

If the alerts are still present after this run could you attach a screenshot of the alert

Thank you for working on my problem. See the attached report and screen shot.

Hmm something different

Lets see if I can locate it

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here

[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/ried7/NSIS_extraction.png

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

See attached report from Combofix

Could you cursor over the alert and let me know what site it is trying to connect to i.e. http …

Could you now start firefox in safe mode https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Then let me know if the alerts still happen

no they are gone

OK pain in the butt time… Start Firefox normally then disable all extensions add/ons
Re-enable the extensions one at a time until the alert re-appears then let me know which one it was so that I can kill it

It actually was not that hard as I have very few. It is Video Player 1.3 1.3

I have simply removed the Video Player 1.3 1.3

Thanks I will now add that one to my long list

Is all well now ?

Yes, it appears so. Thank you so much for your help and the trouble shooting tutorial through this exercise.

In that case methinks I will send you on your merry way

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

[]Follow the prompts on the screen
[
]A message should appear confirming that ComboFix was uninstalled

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

Clear Restore Points

Go Start > All Programmes > Accessories > System tools
Right click Disc Cleanup and select run as administrator
When it pops up at the first prompt select OK after it has done some calculations the tabs will appear
Select More Options tab
Press Sytem Restore and Shadow Copies Cleanup button

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

If you use on-line banking then as an added layer of protection install Trusteer Rapport

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. To keep your operating system up to date visit
[*]Microsoft Windows Update
