malicious URLs when searching Google

A while back I was having problems with Google. Every time I searched something and clicked on a link, I would be redirected to spam sites. I would click back, click the link again, and it would work properly. Assuming I had some sort of virus or malware, I ran scans with both AVG and Malwarebytes, but found no solution. I downloaded Avast, which has solved the problem somewhat. Instead of getting redirected, I get a “Malicious URL Blocked” popup from Avast every time I search Google. How do I remove the source of the problem??

I have seen Adwcleaner recommended to others, but it didn’t seem to do the trick either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It’s good. The first fix solved my problem. Do I need the additional fix? What does it do?

The additional fix is just to remove the last bits of Norton and McAfee no need to run it if you are happy

Got it. Thanks!!

Run OTL and press the cleanup button to remove it and associated folders

I ran the second fix, and everything seems great. Thanks for all of your help!

Keep safe
