Malware and Personal Information

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to make my mind up whether to change my AV programme to Avast Premium from one of their competitors.

Can anyone tell me (a) - if it is recommended, or necessary, for a Third-Party Malware Protection programme to be run in conjunction with Avast and (b) - are Avast/AVG still under investigation for selling User’s browser history?

Thank you,

IanG

Don’t be so hanged up by the name of the security program.
Antivirus is a old name from the time before internet when all malware was self-replicating virus that spread using floppy disk

Malware is short for “malicious software” meaning evry program that can harm your computer

So all virus are malware but all malware is not virus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware

Today all the big security vendor programs detect/block all types of malware whatever name the program have

Hi IanG

Personaly i would rercommend you to try Avast Free first, as it offers the same Anti Malware protection as Avast Premium.

To answer your aditional questions :

(a) - No
(b) - No

Hi Pondus,
Thanks for taking the time to respond, but you haven’t quite answered the questions.

Hi Rednose,
Thanks for responding to my questions.
I’ll probably just go straight for the Premium.
