I’ve only recently begun using Avast. ??? Today I downloaded a few video clips; at the end of each download the warning alert came up saying it cotained Malware - Dropper WMA:Wimad [DRP]. >:( It gave me a choice to send it to the chest (which I did for a couple of them) or of course delete it, but the programs recomendation was to Repair it. :o So I clicked on Repair, it claimed that to be successful, but when I tried to play each video that it apparently `Repaired’ each one was reduced to a 1 (one) second clip, which of course was of no use. :-
First of all, can anyone define this malware item & secondly, am I doing something wrong re: this so-called repair feature?? :
So you continued, to try to watch videos, even when Avast said they contained malware ?
I can only assume that he tried to watch them thinking avast had repaired the problem … and it had done just that. The real problem was that most of what was downloaded was a trojan and very little of it was actually what he wanted.

This appears exact case from my experience. Malware as audio / video attachment to would-be file.
Refrain from such downloads.
A video of what ? Porn ? Hum hum But well let be in the topic.
This is what your malware do if im not wrong… http://www.trustedsource.org/malware-virus-description/979540/Trojan-Dropper-Dldr-Agent-asyh-1
only after running the “Repair” feature ;D
Nahh! Pentium 4; 1.25G ram; Broadband (it’s reasonably quick!)
yeah, that would seem to be the most sensible thing to do, but shucks, I tried ten D/L’s & only one came thru without the alert
Thanx. I threw this inta my favorites area for future reference! :
No problem. I hope i helped you and enjoy your weekend.
Hmmmm :
Those videos r fakes…However, The videos itself r the nasty, it is a trojan in guise^^(I guess)
But from wat i have heard,(from this forum of course and from trusted and professional people), trojans cant be repaired!..Because the whole thing is the trojan…^^
So if it is a horse, then why did the repair option accessible?

yeah, I expect that you’re right. The whole thing is actually the trojan. And, I guess, the “Repair” Feature did exactly that…it just so happened that once the infectious part was gone, there was nothing left of any file to be useable <?!?>
…sure wish I knew WHY some of these bastards need to go out of their way just to SPOIL the Internet Experience for so many??!!
The simple answer is … to make money from stealing passwords.
