Malware . . . er report?

So someone put malware on my computer but i know who did it. Who do i go to to deal with them?

Local authorities aka police.

Hi Asyn,

Sin Shadow Fox himself comes here from an unroutable address,
that is reported as being “cidr_report_bogons”.
About the threats involved, read: https://ipregistry.co/blog/bogons

polonus (volunteer 3rd party website-security analyst and website error-hunter)

Are you sure about that? I thought there was a special division or something that handled cyber security.

What does that mean? Does that mean the malware has done something to my IP? Can it be fixed?

Take this up with your hoster heaplayer dot com.
Everywhere you get a DNS propagation time-out for your IP address.

pol

I . . . don’t understand any of that. Sorry, I’m not very technical minded. Whats a hoster headplayer or a DNS ptopagation?

Take this up with your service provider. Heap Layer LCC.
Your account IP and the IP you post with now are different.
Was your IP changed through that particular hack?

polonus

First off my service provider is at&t and i can’t talk to them until my father gets back from work to authenticate the account.

Secondly i don’t know what hacks have been done by that malware which is why i’m looking for someone to deal with him and hopefully make him fix my computer.

Ask him to help you out on this one.
Your original address is in the 193.36.XXX.XXX range and now you log in with 192.109.2XX.XXX
I do not give the XXX here for obvious reasons.

Ask your original service provider what they see or whether they see your device at all from their end.
You or someone could do a “ipconfig /all”, but I question you’d be able to perform such commands.
When you have recovered from this, start following a course at school to get somewhat more computer-savvy.

All’s well that ends well, we all had to learn things, and sometimes the hard way. Stay focused. Good luck.

polonus

Ok first off, As i said I can’t talk to my service provider right now as they will only speak with the account holder and hes not home right now (hes away on a business trip)
Secondly, I have no need or intention of learning about IPs. I’m a psychologist not a computer engineer.
Thirdly, I came here to ask where i can go to seek help with someone who is creating malware and refusing to fix what his malware has broken which is what these forums are for. So either your here to help or your not.
So if you have some information that can help then please provide it otherwise please allow others to respond.

First lets get it straight, all of those seeking to help you here are Avast Users just like yourself.

Second, they have spent time trying to investigate for you and your attitude in this regard is poor.

Thirdly this does not bode well for them being willing to continue trying to help.

Asyn’s comment was “Call the cops”. For a virus/malware. I neither believe he was serious or that he spent time trying to investigate this.
Polonus’ first comment was addressed to Asyn. I may not be technical minded but i can tell when I’m being dismissed. I can also tell when I’m being talked down to.
My attitude only changed when Polonus’ attitude became pandering.

I understand the people here are only users and I’m not expecting concrete answers. But i am expecting respect. I may not be technical minded but I’m not stupid. I know Polonus is accusing me of something even if i don’t know what it is. Why else would he address Asyn about me? And asking how “I” changed my address with a “hack”? I’ll show him the amount of respect he deserves which at this point is none.

You asked “Who do i go to to deal with them ?”

The police also have a duty in regards to computer crime and if you say you know who did it, then they should investigate or at the very least know of an agency that does.

Just because you don’t understand the technical aspects, doesn’t mean they are disrespecting you (I certainly haven’t got that feeling) or being flippant. As was suggested you should/could talk to your Internet service provider (Host) about these anomalies, you could also give them the URL of this topic as it may help them.

Not everyone who has responded has English as their naive language, so at times it may be misinterpreted or come across as somewhat strange.

For now I’m done.

I’m not sure what culture your from but in mine suggesting someone go back to school is the equivalent of calling them stupid. There is also the point i made of Polonus addressing someone else in my thread in regards to something about my IP address

“Hi Asyn,
Sin Shadow Fox himself comes here from an unroutable address,
that is reported as being “cidr_report_bogons”.
About the threats involved, read: https://ipregistry.co/blog/bogons

and when i asked him what he was talking about he accused me of doing something through hacking

“Was your IP changed through that particular hack?”

If you truly believe after reading that that Polonus was not meaning to be disrespectful or flippant then you are a very generous man with far too much faith in people.

Also concerning Asyn’s comment. Again i don’t know if this is a cultural thing but american police . . . Don’t really do anything that isn’t responding to violent crimes or break up domestic disputes. I once called the non-emergency line to my local police department about an online vendor selling something other than what they were advertising and they laughed in my face (not keen on experiencing that again). So in good faith i asked Asyn if he was serious. No response.

I try not to assume when I’m online as things can get garbled when conveyed through text. But i also know that there are . . . not nice people in the world that will take any opportunity to “flex their social control” regardless of whether it affects anyone else negatively. Maybe this has made me jumpy and quick to judge but i just don’t want to be on the receiving end of a witch hunt as tends to happen often within the last 3 years. If Polonus was truly trying to help but was being gimped by a language barrier then i do sincerely apologize but if he was trying to paint a target on my back so he could manufacture some kind of social justice “win” then i don’t appreciate his involvement.

Many countries have a national police force that would deal with crime, not to mention I said if they don’t then I would hope they would know who does and point you in that direction.

As was mentioned that certain IP addresses aren’t in use, reserved and could mean they were being improperly used. As it could have been that the hack made changes this regard. That was why the link was given so you can get an idea why they might be considered suspect.

Anyway I’m done with this ping pong as it is going nowhere.

This doesn’t explain/confirm Asyn’s intentions. This is just your reason for justifying his comment.

Improperly used, to ask for help? THAT’S suspect.

Also i don’t appreciate your tone. You come into MY thread to defend someone who by all rights is looking for a fight/witch hunt and get indignant after i gave you a heartfelt response. If this is going to be your attitude then i don’t WANT you in my thread, yeah you ARE done with this ping pong . Do not post in my thread again if your just going to antagonize or you will be reported to Avast for harassment.

This isn’t your thread. It’s a topic on the Avast Forum. This is an open forum.
Please change your attitude and realize not everyone agrees with your point of view.

Actually it is. I’m the one that created it 3 days ago.
And i will treat people the way they deserve to be treated. If hey are polite and respectful then they will be treated politely and respectfully. If they are demeaning or rude then they will be treated that way. That’s not a point of view but a rule of society, one which everyone must follow. And it’s a simple rule, so if you don’t want to be treated poorly then don’t treat others poorly.

Maybe you need to head your own words.
