[malware help] disorderstatus.ru/order.php and http://differentia.ru/diff.php

Hi guys,

My father called my attention when he noticed our anti-virus (Avast Free) suddenly shows popups every now and then saying there is an infection (I have attached a screenshot for your reference). He said it might be from the usb flash drive that he is using, where suddenly all the files went missing and was replaced by one shortcut.

I did the following as described in your initial instructions:

  1. Installed and ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. (MBAM Log attached)
  2. Installed and ran Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST.txt and Additions.txt attached)
  3. Installed and ran aswMBR.exe (aswMBR log attached)
  4. Installed and ran MCShield (MCShield log attached)

After running MBAM, it asked me to reboot my PC which I did. After the restart, the pop up message from Avast disappeared so I assumed the first step already fixed the issue. But I still continued steps 2-4 just to be sure (and I attached the logs as you might be able to check if everything is fine or if I need to do anything else).

Although the avast pop up is no longer appearing, the files in the usb are still missing. Can you help me in recovering my father’s files? I found a cmd command in the internet giving me a script but I am not sure if it is safe to use. The code is “attrib -s -h -a -r /s /d .

I am wondering if the virus/malware was from the USB flash drive since the MCShield scan said it was clean. Hope anyone could help me on this.

Thanks and regards,

When you ran MCShield did you set it to unhide files/folders ?

Download MCShield to your desktop and install
It will initially run a scan and show the result as a toaster by the system clock
Then in the control centre select scanner and tick unhide items on flash drives

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/mcshield%20unhide.JPG

Plug in the drive and McShield will start a scan

Then get the log which will be located under the logs tab on the main page

And post that

FIX

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

CreateRestorePoint: C:\ProgramData\msgnoert.exe RemoveProxy: EmptyTemp: CMD: bitsadmin /reset /allusers

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/FRSTfix.JPG

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

THEN

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

[*]Close all open programs and internet browsers.
[*]Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
[*]Click on Scan.
[*]After the scan is complete click on “Clean”
[*]Confirm each time with Ok.
[*]Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
[*]Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S0].txt as well.

Hello essexboy,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Attached are the fixlog and adwcleaner results. Hopefully malware is now off this PC.

With regards to the USB Flash drive, MCShield detected a suspicious file called “desktop.ini”. Can you advise what should I do here? There is no “delete” or “quarantine” button but only rename". When I click on details, it does not say that much about the file (I have attached a screenshot for your reference). Also, there was no update on the MCShield AllScans log file since my last run awhile ago but I have still attached it here.

Regards,

Select rename … How is the computer behaving now ?

Looks like PC is all good now. Thanks!

BTW, last question, In order to avoid this again in the future, do you suggest leaving malwarebytes and mcshield installed in my PC for malware and usb flash drive protection? I was wondering if it might cause any issues with avast as our main antivirus program…

Malwarebytes and MCShield are complimentary programmes so keep them

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

: Keep Java Updated :

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

Malwarebytes

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Unchecky

Click on the link above to be taken to Unchecky.com
click the very large Download button.
click Save
Click Open folder
Right click on the Unchecky_setup and choose to Run as Administrator
Once open click the Install button.
Then click on Finish
Unchecky is now installed and will help you keep unwanted check boxes unchecked, this is a fire and forget programme

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

Hello essexboy,

I installed Delfix with options selected as with your screenshot, Checked if Java is installed in my browsers (thankfully it is not), and installed Unchecky. I have been using my PC for a couple of hours now and it seems that everything is perfectly normal again. I think we can consider this case as closed.

Thanks for the help on this one!
