Malware in Avast install?

I downloaded the free Avast from your Avast site. As it was downloading, Malwarebytes had 2 popups for malware: “popcash.net and onclickads.net” – Malwarebytes tells me I am infected now. Is that something that you guys can fix or what the heck is this? Thanks.

Attach your basic diagnostic logs. (MBAM and FRST)
Instructions: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=194892

Here the logs as requested: I did not include MBAM as no threats were detected with the rootkit scan. I ran the FRST as Admin but not on my Admin account. If that needs redoing since not on Admin account. let me know and I will redo.

Are you still getting Malwarebytes notifications? I don’t see anything malicious in logs.

I know! It’s weird. I get them everyday. Do you want me to give you those from this morning? I can’t remember what site I was at this morning but yesterday I was on the Bing home page and they came up. Thanks for looking at this.

So could what you see be related to this then?

Oh, the Sites You Will Never See

It’s very possible that’s what’s happening. I don’t know what to make of it. I have written MWB about it but haven’t heard back. I think they are very busy. Like all of these anti-infection sites. There is just so much stuff out there willing to take ya down. Thanks again.

This is an edit to my post of this morning. Again, this morning I went to Bing and the block from mwb came up. Does that mean that Bing is carrying suspicious harmful ads? Don’t know what to do with this situation. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is it a different block or the same evry time? Attach malwarebytes protection log (not scan log)

You can clear browser crap with this >> https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/ attach log

It’s the same two and again on Bing. Do you mean the “report” that comes up after the block appears?
Adware cleaner will get rid of this? I’ll give it a try. Not on my desktop right now but will send the reports when I get back on. Thanks again.

See report section

Thanks for the guide. I do know how to send up the reports. Didn’t know for sure if that’s what you wanted. Anyway, here they are from this morning.

Can you open www.google.com and let it be only opened page in browsers and wait if MBAM will notify about blocked site?

Will do that now.

Went to google.com and no blocks came up from mwb… I am going to go to Bing now and see if it happens. That’s when it typically happens. I’ll post if so.

Didn’t happen on Bing but did on something called Deadline on MSN entertainment site.

I also installed mwb adaware as you suggested. So far no blocks on any sites.

Then is MBAM maybe too much aggresive when it comes to advertising services.

The following will implement some post-cleanup procedures:

=> Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop.
Run the tool and check the following boxes below;

Remove disinfection tools

Create registry backup

Purge System Restore
Click Run button and wait a few seconds for the programme completes his work.
At this point all the tools we used here should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:DelFix.txt)

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

I just received some input from Mwb techs. They suggest I do a mbclean thing and reinstall mwb3.1. So far all seems ok. Nothing came up in terms of blocks after install and web browsing. I posted results of mbclean to their site - am awaiting response from them. I will do the delfix thing depending on what they say. I agree - I think they are very aggressive regarding ad stuff. There’s just so much stuff going on -everything becomes suspect.

Of course, I still don’t know what those 2 items that came thru with the Avast install are all about. Hopefully all will be cleared up. Thanks very much for your help.

So far so good. Just want to thank you for your help and thoughts about this situation.
