Recently my fathers Windows 7 PC has been infected with Malware/Virus… From my research online I believe it is the well known dllhost.exe multi process malware. Multiple attempts are blocked as soon as the pc boots up and about the only way to do anything as far as researching or trying to remove the threat, is to end the high memory usage dllhost.exe process. I have ran the scans and will attach the logs onto this thread. I do have basic understanding of AV protection as I was an basic troubleshooting technician for Cox security software as well as McAfee. But its been years ago and from my research I understand this is not something I want to tackle on my own. Would any of you nice young fellas be willing to assist me rid this unwanted headache from this PC?
Here you go this should cure it

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/FRSTfix.JPG
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that
Ok just ran the fix and the multiple dllhost.exe did not lead into the system processes
Now before I go jumping for joy was this a fix? Or just a temporary run through to address a bigger issue? Also after running the fix, FRST needed to restart my pc posting the fixlog.txt that it generated before running an additional scan (which I believe was the exact directions that you gave me) so I’ll hold off on running the scan until I hear back from you. Thanks a bunch for your help.
Nope that was not a temporary fix but the real thing ![]()
Any further problems ?
Besides his pc randomly crashing, none I can think of. I’ve tried everything I could to fix that including sending it back to the manufacturer twice.
But I told him I’ll buy him a new pc soon. Thanks so much for the help. Much kudos to your team for the quick responses as well ![]()
Do you have any dump files related to the crashes that I could look at ?
Subject to no further problems ![]()
