Hi guys, I’m doing a research product on anti virus products and wanted to know do avast have a specific method in naming malware which has been detected? I know theres specific malware families but how do avast (and other antivirus products) decide on labeling malware?

to find info on a virus detection you see try this: take the detection name you see, like this from AVG Worm/Downadup
now google virustotal Worm/Downadup and you get lots of VT hits
see what Microsoft or Kaspersky name it, then search those sites given above for those names
then you get these
