I’ve had a virus for about a week now. I am running windows vista and avast free edition. I tried ad-aware and spybot.
I scan my computer regularly and with boot-scan, but it doesn’t show a virus. Every time i stick in a flash drive it has the vbs:malware-gen.
File name: (drive letter):\autorun.inf
Malware name: VBS:Malware-gen
Malware type: Virus/Worm
VPS version: 080930-0, 09/30/2008
I tried to reformat the drive, but it gets the virus as soon a minute or so after it is finished.
I tried to reformat in safe mode in using the command prompt
I tried an attrib -h -r -s autorun.inf
but the virus always shows up on my flash.
I bought a new flash drive and the virus showed up when i plugged it in.

Don't know, but I've never seen a legit process named MSN. Submit the file to virustotal. That should give you a clue.
