I have a mac and in the past few weeks I have been getting pop ups when I never had them before. I use google chrome and in the settings I have always had popups blocked but no it’s not working. I downloaded Avast and I see that some 20+ people are tracking me. I ran the norton antivirus as well as Avast and they don’t show any virus or anything but something is up. Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
Chrome and Opera have a lot of things in common. I had Opera for a few days hopping for a better experience. There is no easy fix. If your skill level is at a few years of using and understanding Mac utilities and terminal you can probably do something otherwise you may risk the following.
I DID NOT TRY THE FOLLOWING RECENTLY but there is some evidence from some sources that it might work.
- Use an application uninstall cleaner for Mac (AppZapper etc. do a search) and reinstall browser. About 30% success.
- Migration Assistant or reinstall of operation system (after Time Machine backup). About 50-70% success but IT CAN LEAD TO OTHER PROBLEMS and is DAYS CONSUMMING.
Can you clarify what ou mean by “20+ people are tracking me”, and why you think it’s relevant to your problem?
