Malware Pop up keeps appearing.

This is my first forum post, so apologies if it’s in the wrong area.

I keep getting a pop up from avast telling me that a ‘threat has been detected’ and when I click more details it brings me to a web page that says:

Infection Blocked
URL: http://www.marvelousdownload.com/update.php
Infection: URL:Mal
Relax, your avast! just saved you from a virus.
Protect yourself against other types of threats by upgrading now.

I have boot scanned my PC, and updated the antivirus. It’s not frustrating because it means this ‘virus’ is being blocked before it can do any damage, which means Avast is doing it’s job properly:)

This happens every time I startup my PC and it may appear during the day randomly.

What can I do to stop this from popping up?

seems you may have something that is trying to phone home

follow instructions and attach logs (not copy and paste) http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

run in order listed
AdwCleaner / Malwarebytes / OTL / aswMBR

when done, removal experts will be notified and help you
when finish, all tools used will be removed

Simon, No He’s been inactive… Please start your own thread and follow what Pondus has said. Also, please attach a screen shot of the Alert

I’m also having the same issue, but do not have the time or energy to follow the above steps (within this week anyways). What’s it mean to start a new thread? Wouldn’t it be easier to keep the topic on the same page so others w/ the same issue may refer back to it? If I don’t see a resolution in a week or so on here and I find some free time to install 4 programs, go through logs, take screenshot and post it here, then I just may, but it’s something I can’t commit to at the present moment.

no...bc when you attach the logs and the removal expert start posting fixes here it will be total chaos when helping multiple users in same topic

and you can not use the fix created for other users as it is made for your exact machine based on the logs you attach

If I don't see a resolution in a week or so on here and I find some free time to install 4 programs,
solution is to find and remove the infection trying to call out from your machine

Apologies for my late reply, I couldn’t get back into my account for some unknown reason.
Because I couldn’t post a log back to Pondus, I ran the programs AdwCleaner and MalwareBytes which can be found here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
With AdwCleaner I just scanned and cleaned, it was unbeleivable the amount of junk it found and cleaned up.
Then just to be sure I used Malware Bytes, scanned and deleted any files suspected as malware.
Both programs are free, great and easy to use!
Apologies once again.
