Malware Problems

I have been getting a repeated warning from Avast regarding a Win32:Trojan-gen.

The file is found in C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\moved\crack.exe

Any action attempted returns an error message that access is denied. “Cannot process 'C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\moved\crack.exe”'".

After rummaging through here, I have run ComboFix, but it didn’t seem to tell me much. I may not be looking in the right place though.

The OS is Windows 7, 64 bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The file was detected before by avast. You’ve moved it instead of moving to Chest.
Now it’s being detected again.
Better would be disabling the self defense module (Settings > Troubleshooting) and then go there with Windows Explorer and delete it (maybe you need to show hidden files to see it).
Empty recycle bin after that.

Thanks Tech, for the quick reply. Cleaning out the Move file seems to have sorted the problem. I would note that there were a number of files in there, and once the Crack file went away, Avast popped up with another, so I just wiped everything out of there, and peace and harmony seem to have returned.

Glad to know. Send to Chest is always the safest option
