"Malware Protection Live" suspicious application

Hi everyone, long time no see.
So just moments ago, I had Chrome tell me that a plug-in I recently installed was suspect and was blocked.
I didn’t install anything, my browser plugins are Web Of Trust, AdBlock Plus and ScriptBlock.
I’m surprised that my firewall and Avast didn’t catch anything, then all of a sudden, in my taskbar this program shows up with an icon, I double clicked it, which was probably a mistake and then this popup appears. I’m a little scared of it and I’m doing full scans with SAS and MBAM.

I turned on the Avast browser plug-in as well, I didn’t realize that wasn’t enabled.

… Okay, so after some thinking of ANYTHING I installed over the past month, I do remember Chrome having trouble, the browser just ‘broke’, it would stop responding as soon as I opened it.
Not long after my OS had a major crash, I looked in the event viewer and all kinds of consecutive warnings and critical failures were logged.
I had to reinstall Chrome and I had to use… Ugh, IE to install Chrome. I used Cnet to download some plugins for IE, ones that I used before, but versions to work with IE. I’m pretty sure I went to the official site to download Chrome and I tried to spend as little time on IE as possible.
From the there I tried to restore Chrome to like it was and it seems to have been working okay since.

Oh. Well that sounds not so bad. I probably shouldn’t mess with the application but I right-clicked “exit” on it in the task bar and it seemed to have closed and the popup on my desktop is gone.
So far SAS only found over 80 tracking cookies, they were removed. MBAM is starting to find things, it found one file so far and after that’s done I’ll use SlimCleaner.

Thanks guys, I broke away and came back, almost missing that before using SlimCleaner. I forget that’s the go to method and saved me a lot of trouble in the past.

Thank you, I’ll follow all that carefully. Sounds like it did do a little harm. I’m not sure how it got in there.

Okay so here’s the log after the machine rebooted, everything seems fine, the browser looks like it was rolled back to just when I installed the plugins, taking me to the plugins ‘getting started’ pages. I also noted that the icon for that suspicious application didn’t show up in the taskbar during startup.
So I guess it was a piece of mal/spyware? It must be something new to get past all the safeguards I had. Should I report the file that I got to one of those virus databases?

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Remove tools

Download and run Delfix
Select the options as shown

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version
