Hi bob,
Seen that info too. I wasn’t concerned with the e-mails, but the info on the site was worth mentioning. Then going there poses no further risks:
This was DrWeb’s av hyperlink check on this site:

When I see a web site with 11 javascript entries I begin to wonder why and what would be going on had I not got NoScript enabled ;D
Especially when it is purporting to be something about security as in ‘searchwindowssecurity’ I must be very suspicious ;D
OK, DavidR & Bob3160,
Agree, I comply, and I give this link now only with your expressed warnings.

Whilst there might be nothing untoward with the ‘Malware removal handbook’ I just wonder why it requires 11 javascript to achieve any display or effects 2 or 3 no problem but 11 is way OTT for a standard html page.
I used the firefox DOM Inspection extension to take a look at the page code (a bit like a super View Source) and most of the script appears to be delivering ads, one related to emails tell a friend and based on Bobs comment about receiving spam, there is potential to capture two email addresses there.
The page was attributed to ‘Kevin Beaver, Contributor’ and the name is familiar,
About the author: Kevin Beaver is an independent information security consultant, author, and speaker with Atlanta-based Principle Logic, LLC. He has more than 18 years of experience in IT and specializes in performing information security assessments. Kevin has written five books including Hacking For Dummies (Wiley), Hacking Wireless Networks For Dummies, and The Practical Guide to HIPAA Privacy and Security Compliance (Auerbach).
A google search on his name returns many security based references. I doubt that he crafted the page just the article.
