Malware Research Group Project #19/On Demand scan test

Hello guys, here is the latest test by Malware Research Group in which they used 639.424 samples of malware:
Trojans/Backdoors- 468.850
Windows Viruses- 12.134
Worms- 64.358
Adware/Spyware- 58.224
Rootkits/Exploits- 11.058
Other Malware- 24.800

They tested 19 programs, Avast scored 98.7% detection ratio and came in 5th place.

1 question: when will Avast introduce their heuristic scanner? I ask this because if heuristics added only 1% better detection, well the result would be 99.8% or more, which no doubt would be great.

-= Whoa… Surprised to see Twister & Spy Emergency… I heard of Spy Emergency to be rogue, but it seems to be fixed now… Twister seems to have a good start to beat drweb, sophos & clam…

-= By the way, I am still unsure why a-squared beat avira & g-data again…?

I guess they have to thank Ikarus for that as it has a very good detection rate on its own, keep in mind that there were no false positives in this test

-= Why Ikarus…? Did they buy Ikarus or anything else like it…?

-= Sorry for this question… I am just unaware of things about a-squared & Ikarus…

Avast! 5 Security Center will maybe reach the first position if im not wrong. I hope…

What if Avast got 2% better detection, that would give 100,8% detection.
Heuristics means, generally speaking, more FP’s too.
I think 98.8% is very good.

a-squared 4.5 uses two engines and two sets of signatures, they use their own engine along with signature database but they added Ikarus engine and their signature database

-= Whoa… I didn’t knew that… Thanks for the tidbit…
