I went to FileHippo to download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.41.
It says on there that it is Shareware.
What does that mean vs. the Freeware Apps / Utilities that I periodically download?
It IS Free, isn’t it? I mean, I did read that there is a Paid version and a Free version.
But, what’s with the “Shareware” label?
Is this Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.41 gonna be running in the background or is it just On Demand?
I hope it doesn’t run anything in the background. My computer only has 256 Meg of RAM with Windows XP. I can’t afford to add anything else that runs in the background.
Shareware is generally try and if you like it you can buy it. The MBAM is slightly different in that if you don’t buy it reverts to the free version so no resident protection. That is to the best of my knowledge how it works, but I have had MBAM (free) for some time, before this shareware tag came along.
Even if you elected to buy the Pro version you aren’t forced to have the resident protection running, that however, make it a bit pointless having the Pro/paid version.
Alright! I got it now. Shareware is on Trial Basis. And the Free MBAM doesn’t run in the background.
Thanks Kenny, Pondus, David!
I’ll go download the Free version now.
