Manual Scan and Scheduled Scan

Knowledge is power so I wanted to double-check:

Since real-time scanning is constant,ly active I realize that a scheduled scan once a month is sufficient.

Should real-time scanning be turned off during a manual and scheduled scan (is there a conflict?) or do real-time scanning and manual scanning work together?

Nope there is no need for that. If you leave your computer on then you could use a screen saver scan instead of a monthly one

I ‘want’ to do a scheduled monthly scan though-Should real-time scanning be turned off during that scan is what I am asking.

You don’t need to turn off real-time, it all works together.

A scheduled scan would be very annoying if you had to remember to turn off real time scanning every time before the scan was due to start

Thank you kindly, dear-You gave a crystal-clear answer the first time that DIRECTLY answered my question!

The answer was provided in the first reply

Dear, Do a Screensaver Scan and a Scheduled Monthly Scan perform the same function?

Yes except that the screensaver scan will stop and start, but it will always recommence where it last stopped

Dear, basically then, both a screensaver scan and scheduled monthly scan are considered ‘on-demand,’ since I initiate the scan-Is that correct?

No the screensaver scan kicks in when your normal screensaver operates

The Screen Saver Scan is listed under Special Scans - avastUI > Settings > General > Special Scans - here you can change the settings for the screen saver scan.

Dearies, what I meant to ask was:

-A scheduled monthly scan considered an ‘on-demand computer scan’ (since I initiate the scan)
-The screensaver scan is also a regular computer scan and it scans automaticall but only if the ‘Avast Antivirus’ screensaver is selected in the Screensaver list

Is that correct?

Yes, whether it is an on demand scan or not is really quite immaterial

Dearies, to confirm:

-A scheduled monthly scan is considered an ‘on-demand computer scan’ since I initiate the scan

-The screensaver scan, also a computer scan, can also be considered an ‘on-demand scan’ since I have to initiate the ‘Avast Screensaver’ setting in order for it to become enabled in the Screensaver list.

Is that correct?

I am learning so much from my dearie computer gurus.
