Since the latest “updates,” I cannot send/receive email (Outlook 2013) or see my external data storage devices unless I disable Avast. I’m sure there are settings somewhere to fix this - can someone provide them?

TIA!

Wanda

Just to add to this - everything was fine until avast! made updates. Some settings were obviously changed to block Outlook and my ability to see and access my networked Mass Storage Devices.

I finally called avast! and instead of just telling me what to change, I got the “you have a complex fix and we can help you for $119.” What a scam.

I have confirmed I have the correct settings for my email addresss (comast)

At the moment, the only thing that works is if I disable the firewall.

Is there someone with another answer? Please?

Thank you!

You spoke to third party help. Still Avast’s responsibility but Avast itself doesn’t offer phone support.
Try the following: Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204

If Repair doesn’t fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

If you need additional help with the Clean Install, watch this:

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually reset to avast factory settings (now going through answering everything each time it loads) and then set the firewall to Private PC and voila! All is well (at the moment I’m sure).

Again, thank you

Wanda

Glad to hear the problem is solved. Enjoy the rest of your day.
