Massive Avast Service CPU usage

Whenever I open Avast, the CPU usage of Avast Service in Task Manager goes up to somewhere around 80% which is absurd. 5-7 minutes after I close Avast, it goes back down to 1-10%. I feel like this is due to something that is broken in Avast. Please help. Thanks.

I tried this twice already and a restart. It didn’t work.
