The only Java I use is my coffee in the morning to wake me up! ;D 
Same here in Midwest USA.
Intel requires it to scan a machine to determine what drivers are needed to be upgraded. There are still a couple of other useful sites that use it also so I compromised. I installed Java as a stand alone, portable app on the G: drive and will start it only when necessary. It’s disabled in all browsers and no remnants are in the system folder… well because this is a new install… thanks a lot Hotspot Shield… jerks…

You are coming to this party very late there have been many such topics and the advice is simple. If you don’t have software that requires JAVA or have to visit websites that require JAVA (not javascript), then easy completely remove JAVA.
For those that have to use JAVA they have to stay on top of the JAVA security updates.
