Maybe an unknow infection

Hello guys!

Now I am having problems with the father of my wife computer.

The problems that I could fix:

1- From my avast website, I realized that his avast installation detected some stuff
A- 2 win32:Adware-Gen[ADW] from 2 executable that were being downloaded in the “secured.westsecurecdn.us” website.
B- 1 win32:Malware-Gen from the main executable of the MaxPCCleaner software.
PS–> After running avira pccleaner, malwarebytes and avast, they detected some adwares, malware gens and pups, being successfully in remove them. All programs are now returning clear.

2- MaxPcCleaner could not be uninstalled by default add remove programs. It returns an error about a missing dll.
PS–> I installed the Revo Uninstaller and it did the trick. It uninstalled it successfully.

The problems I couldnt fix:

→ When I run FARBAR it closes itself 2 seconds later.
→ When I run AdwCleaner nothing happens.
→ When I run aswMBR it returns an error during the scan. (I am not sure if it this one has anything to do with malware, as I never could run successfully it in any machine).

Steps Made to try to fix it:

→ Cleared manually the hosts file that has some google entries on it.
→ Removed manually some bad entries on the task scheduler.
→ Run RKill, wich didnt found any malware process that could interfere with security software.
→ Removed some bad services and startup entries manually too.

Any idea on how to make AdwCleaner and FarBar to run?

Thanks for your time!

Hello Eddy,

Thanks for your reply.

The problem is that:

→ Malwarebytes and Avast are returning clean.
→ Farbar, aswMBR and Adwcleaner are not running in the machine, so I cant create the log.

Thanks!

Are you getting a error when you trying to run them ?
If so, what is the error ?
With Farbar you will need to download the one that is for your system (32/64 bit)

Hello Eddy!

I verified that I have downloaded the correct executable.

The problems are:

→ FarBar closes itself 2 seconds after the forms appears
→ AdwCleaner doesnt give any error at all. After I click yes to the Windows UAC, nothing happens.

Thanks for your time!

Have you tried to run them from safe mode ?

Not yet.

I was not sure if it could interfere with the results of the scan.

I will try it and return with the results

Thanks for your time!
