Anyway, my family member got a new 1-month rented laptop. My family lets me take care of their computers security-wise, so with his permission, I installed both Avast! and MBAM (with trial) on his new PC. I usually don’t have access to his computer because he uses it a lot, but recently I did a boot scan with Avast! and then a hyper scan with MBAM on his PC. First scan turned up fine, but the hyper scan detected malware and several PUPs. Today I did a threat scan and it only found 1 PUP and then I did another hyper scan and it was fine. See my attached logs.
Does his computer look alright now? Should I delete the PUPs?
Also, if you don’t mind, I have one last question.
This is the first time a Hyper Scan I did found malware. Out of curiosity, can MBAM’s Hyper Scan detect malware the Threat Scan doesn’t? The Threat Scan is considered to be more thorough and better in general, I believe? I usually only do a Threat Scan, and our other computers no longer have the Hyper Scan (their trial expired). I was wondering if I should also always do a hyper scan when available, unless both cover the same things.
