I read in another post that Avast only scans the MBR/Boot sectors if the “All Hard Drives” option in selected, but this refers to the Professional Edition. I am using the free home version, and was curious how to set up the scan to include the MBR/Boot sectors. As near as I can figure, I simply need to select “My Computer” in the folders to be scanned section - there is no selection of “All Hard Drives” available in the home edition. Is this correct? Also, it seems that people are confusing “boot time scan” with scanning of the MBR and/or boot sectors. Does the bootime scan automatically scan all files and MBR/boot sectors? Other than selecting “boot time scan”, I’m not aware of being able to select specific areas of the computers like in the regular scan.
Thanks!
No. Use the buttom Local Folders.
No. See the screenshots.
Yes, the boottime scanning scans the boot sectors and the MBR while in boot time…
Indeed, some users could misinterpret this info.
