McAfee anti-virus program

Greetings everyone,
I have a Dell laptop, running WIN 7 HOME PREMIUM. I use FireFox almost exclusively. I constantly get the updates from Adobe Flash. When I get those updates, it always includes McAfee Smart Scan( There is no box to uncheck to not install McAfee with the Adobe updates). I use Avast Free. I have for years and never had any issues. Now the question. Does having McAfee installed with the Adobe updates hinder the operation of my computer? Does it slow it down? Does it interfere with Avast performing its functions? I always go to the control panel and remove it. I would just like the updates to NOT HAVE anything else but the update for Adobe Flash. I hoping those of you whom are really experts in this area will answer my questions.
Thank you!!!

You can avoid the bundleware problem by going to to this Adobe Flash Installation Problems help page. https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html The complete offline install programs are located at the end of the page at section eight labeled (Still Having Problems?).

Also Avast can update them without installing the bundleware, open the interface and scan for outdated programs.

Edited for clarity.

Hi wlrg02,

The 60 second virus scanner is allright to have, because it only runs on demand.
Two residential scanners installed and running at the same time creates a problem.
Just like two watch dogs on the porch are rather going to fight over a bone (each’s other detection patterns) rather than keeping your residence more secure. So having two residential AV solutions is detrimental to your security.
However some programs can play nicely together like MBAM, Adguard and Avast AV for instance, a fine cocktail.
Multi-AV on command can be used from the command prompt next to your residential AV program,

polonus

I would suggest that you install Unchecky and prevent this type of crap from getting to your computer in the first place.
