Hello, I was scrolling through windows task manager looking for a process when I ran across this, I dont remember having ever seen it again (I might have, no sure) and I looked it up on google. it says that it has to do with Internet Explorer script debugging and it said to disable it, I did and it is still in windows task manager. I also came acros this page: http://www.prevx.com/filenames/2143463995619485117-X1/MDM.EXE.html
and the process appears exactly as it says all caps not MDM.exe anyone have a idea as to if this process is malicious?
thanks.
EDIT: Upon reading more it said MDM.EXE should be running out of C:\Windows\System32 well I just did a Hijackthis scan and its running out of
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE
anything off about that? sorry im a bit off-game with malware these days.
Your version of this file seems to be located in one of the correct places and is a legitimate MS file.
See the links below for more information. MDM means machine debug manager.
Thats what I was wondering, but the file is still running out of the correct directory from the links CharleyO provided me with, but of course this does not guarantee that it is not malicious. Ill do a direct upload to VirusTotal but it has not been flagged by Avast, MBAM or SAS on my machine, or by Hitman Pro.
EDIT: i just did a direct upload to VirusTotal and it was flagged as malware by none of the scanners, I believe the file to be legit then.
