Me being a greedy bugger (points to free upgrade)

I work for a small internet company, as what we call Tier 3 support. When a customer calls in with internet problems, Tier 1 walks them thru the basics, rebooting the modem and router, sending a service call if the modem won’t come online, etc. When, Tier 1 can’t resolve the issue, they are transferred to Tier 2. Tier 2 handles the more complicated issues, such as computer configuration and such. When, Tier 2 determines that the issue is likely malware or other issues more complicated than can be easily assisted over a phone call, they are transferred to me (and my team) via LogMeIn, and we create a remote session with the customer, and perform the necessary clean up, repair, etc, to get them connectable and running well again. As part of this job, on average 4-5 times a week (sometimes less, sometimes more) I install Avast! on their system, after cleaning it, to keep them clean. I tell them (honestly!) it’s outstanding protection, and what I use at home myself.

Now’s when the greedy part comes in (you probably saw this coming!): I was paying attention to my points for the first time the other day, and saw that points could be used for free upgrades from the free product, to the Internet Security product. Clearly, I have no way of proving that I do this daily, nor am I unethical enough to force my customers to follow my link before I download and install the product for them, so, I come here with my hat held out in my hand, begging for a handout. . . is there any way I can get that license upgrade, without jumping thru the normal hoops of the bonus points program?

Once I am using the paid version of the product, I’d simply, and honestly be able to tell people that the free version is a great place to start, but, in my own personal experience, the paid version is worth the little bit of extra money.

There aren’t any hoops. Once you’ve earned enough points, you’ll be able to download your license.
I recommend Avast because I think it deserves it and those that convert are almost always happy they did.
It has nothing to do with getting something in return.

No, they can't. The reward system is in beta and no rewards are given until it is final.

In the old system a user must click on your link, download and install avast and register it theirselfs.
If one of the above steps wasn’t done, you would not receive credit(s) for it.

I’m running AIS on Windows 10 and the license came from the rewards part of Avast.

I haven’t got a single point from recommending people to the free version of avast, which I have been using for over eleven years.

The reason why I give them a direct link to download the latest avast free version - I have never given out my referral link - I don’t need any incentive to recommend avast when I feel it offers good protection.

I’ve always felt the best way to support a company is with my $$ Wallet $$. Far more effective then simply referring a ‘free product’.
Many people use a ‘free product’ because they simply can’t afford/don’t spend money on such things as Software!
If one is not spending money, how does this support anything ???
