MediaInject intrusion

fyi since i don’t know how it fits into your categories:http://www.mediainject.com/technology.html

I downloaded and installed DUStat 1.0 from Download. com. It didn’t work. after i uninstalled it i found something called MediaInject in my Control Panel Add/Remove programs list which I never knowingly installed.
Ran Geva is the name listed for DuStat and is a contact name for MediaInject which seems to be a nasty spy program for advertising. please check this out.
the net sum effect is similar to a virus. it takes over some control and extracts information ato use to insert information into my computer.
i have been very happy with avast protection.>:(

hi,

please mail the downloaded file or any related file you consider suspicious to:
virus@avast.com

You can try to manually remove it. In the future, make a backup copy of your registry before installing anything your not sure of.Then you could restore your registry after you uninstall. Microsoft has a registry cleaner. If you decide to try a cleaner make a backup first.
