Memory Dump

PC froze this morning whilst running several applications so i finally managed to shut it down. I am now looking for the memory dump file but i cannot locate it…

I understand it should be located in C:\Windows\Minidump? Thing is when i go into the C:\Windows folder there is no Minidump sub folder. Confused.

I have also checked Event Viewer but it shows no errors for today.

Try c/program data, you may have to show hidden files if not already.

dumps are only created if you get BSOD – and it wasn’t your case (your system deadlocked, but it didn’t crash)
during deadlock, you can still force to generate dump, but you need to write something to registry (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff545499.aspx)
