i have a dell latitude laptop 400 mhz 128 mg ram, there are 2 memory slots that can each hold 128 mb ram.when i put both sticks of memory(128 each)it only says theres 128 mb ram in it,i tried switching slots with one stick to see if i had a bad slot but 1 stick will work in either one.do i need to configure something?o ya windows xp pro, thanks bri
Bri,
Does the other stick also work in both slots?
Are the both stick completely the same? Twins?
It’s not good to use different memory sticks, sooner or later, troubles…
both sticks work on system and they are the same
With Both sticks installed does the computer see all 256MB (Look in the BIOS not in windows) BIOS is usually accessed by pressing F2, Delete or Esc on startup (which key varies by computer model so try all three)
What is the Maximum installable memory amount? Example: you can put 2 X 2Gb memory sticks in a MacBookPro but the OS can only see 3GB of the 4 total due to a limitation in the Chipset, is this Machine able to use more than 128MB?
That’s a good observation, Mac.
I neglected to notice the 400 mhz when I first read this.
Thanks Charley, I just took the A+ Certification test this past summer so I remember a few thing (I hope :o)
