What is the memory test and how often show I perform it?
Hi AnneLee
This is a description from the Avast Help File:
Test memory during application start-up. When avast! is starting, it checks the RAM memory for viruses. You can turn this checking off, which speeds up the avast! starting a bit yet decreases the chances of avast! catching a memory resident virus before it becomes destructive.
You can turn Memory Testing on/off via Right clicking the Avast tray Icon/ Select Program settings/Common
If you keep avast residents on, i.e., the antivirus running, don’t have to worry that much about memory scanning as avast will caught the virus before it could ‘load’ into memory (or in the exactly time it is trying to do so).
