Memory Usage Goes Up Gradually From Time I Upgraded to 5.0.545

rayman, please try running this tool (at the moment the mem usage is suspiciously high):

http://public.avast.com/~vlk/poolmon.exe

When the program starts, press the D key on the keyboard, and then take a screenshot of the program window and post it here.

Thanks
Vlk

when you say "from Time I Upgraded to 5.0.545" - which version were you using before (the last one you didn't have issues with)?

I always keep my Avast up to date. so I think the previous version that I used was 5.0.507

still interested in some more descriptive screenshots

What screenshots do you really wants ? request any screenshot with explanation and I will upload that…

Ok - I will do this when the mem usage is high (some hours later)

Sorry for taking too much but for some reasons I turned off my PC in the last two days so it takes a little more to reach 90%
As soon as possible I’ll upload the screenshot for poolmon.exe
but this is a screenshot for it at 70% memory usage (maybe it can help) :

OK - Here is the screeshot at just the right time (memory usage at 88%) :

I’ll wait for your answer Vlk…

I do not want sexy pictures from megafileupload.com

I do not want sexy pictures from megafileupload.com

You can disable pictures in your browser ::slight_smile:

But those are only two eggplants ;D

rayman, I’d need to do one more experiment.

Please download ProcMon http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx and run it for a minute or so on your computer. Then save the log, ZIP it (to reduce its size) and upload it to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming.

Thanks much

I am the one who needs to thank you for helping me

I tried to upload to (ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming) with some ftp clients but everytime I got an error so I uploaded to megafileupload
Here is the log file (at 51% memory usage) :

rayman, could you please tell us what the current status is? Is the problem still happening?
If it is, could you please install the latest pre-release version (5.0.584), simulate the problem and then run Poolmon again? I’d be very eager to see the results as we have implemented some additional reporting in this new build.

Thanks
Vlk

I am a little busy these days - I will try that pre-release version (5.0.584) as soon as possible and report back

I installed the 590 pre relaese and it didn’t help too…
I also must say that some days ago I replaced Avast with another security software (avira) but my problem didn’t solved (maybe it is not related to avast)
It seems that when I use my Hard disks like copying files or dowsloading ,the memory usage goes up more rapidly (maybe the problem is related to hard) but I can’t find a solution for my problem until now

Alright, if you still have v5.0.590 installed, could you please do the Poolmon thing again? (as described in my Reply #20)

Thanks
Vlk

ok - just give me some time

here is the screenshot from poolmon at 86% memory usage (with 5.0.594 installed) :

Thanks for the screenshot.
If this has been taken with the latest version (5.0.594) then I’m pretty sure it’s not being caused by avast… while this may not be very helpful to you, I’m afraid you’ll have to keep searching for a solution.

Thanks
Vlk
