Message at startup

I couldn’t delete Norton/Symantec Corporate Edition cleanly prior to installing. There was apparently something wrong with the uninstall file. So I brute forced the install by deleting every registry reference to Symantec/Norton, unchecking the items starting the application in msconfig, and deleting the program files. However, I am still receiving the attached message at system startup. Can anyone help??

Running on XP Home.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi Solman,

See Polonus’ post 566 in my thread “Winlogon.pif” (Viruses and Worms): seems that Active X ruined your Norton.
Did you try re-installing Avast (disconnected from the internet) ?

Removing Norton can be more difficult that removing a virus, check out the relevant link/s below.

The NAV 2003 removal tool can be downloaded here: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/misc/consumer/Rnav2003.exe
Manual Removal NAV 2004 - Manual Removal NAV 2004
Manual Removal NAV 2003 or earlier - Manual Removal NAV 2003 or earlier

Symantec has changed some pages on their site.
Best way to start if you want to remove NAV completly is HERE imo.

Eddy, That is the same link as the one I gave for “Manual Removal NAV 2003 or earlier” but it totally depends on what version of NAV they have, which is why I gave the other link for NAV2004.
