Hi, I recently installed a trial version of Avast Pro 4.5. I spotted this afterwards on the ‘notice’ section of the log viewer.
08/12/2004 18:21:08 NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM 1988 There is a new version of the program available on the Internet.
Avast is up-to-date and I’ve tried googling 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM but have got nowhere! Does anyone know what it is?

Are you using the version 4.5.549 and VPS 0450-1 ?

Yes, I’ve just checked.
And, if you check the setup.log file, was you in that date/time (08/12/2004 18:21:08) already updated?

Hi again. I uninstalled and re-installed Avast from Avast’s website, but the problem was still there, so I uninstalled it again using the uninstallation tool on the website.
After I googled and found a site with downloads for Avast 4.5 Home and Professional. It seems to have worked OK this time as I have no error messages on the log viewer anymore!
