Hello bob3160,
Nothing wrong when the Vista kernel is closed to all software. That is a good measure. But then again the rule should be for all software. Also MS software, like Windows Defender. Have you read somewhere that Windows Defender has access to the Vista kernel? Anybody knows? If so the EEC commision might have something to put against MS, if they understood what it was all about.

Hi Bob3160,
Here you can read about some other views:

I’ve been following it in windows secrets for a while now and am just reading the Latest on the story in the “special news update today” issue of the WindowsSecrets newsletter.
I feel this is likely to be a more balanced view as I haven’t seen any anti Microsoft bias in the newsletter and the one it merged with Woody’s Windows Watch.
This is going to be no short term issue but something which will run for some considerable time. Currently this PatchGuard relates to the 64 bit version of Windows that doesn’t have such a huge customer base as the 32 bit version. So whilst they are fighting this battle of the 64 bit Kernel wars we can rest in the fact that by the time we are likely to upgrade to a 64 bit version of windows this should hopefully be sorted once and for all and we will know what to do on way or another.
