Good afternoon everyone! Just wanted to let you all know! Heads up guys more news about end of support for Microsoft OS systems and programs. Link is here http://www.cnet.com/au/news/microsoft-warns-support-ending-for-popular-windows-products/?tag=mncol%3Btxt
That is really god damn sloppy from MS.Come on,There are majority using windows 7 here. They are trying to push more and more users to windows 8 to earn their big bucks $$$$…I think for now I wouldnt bother much and I am very annoyed with the way MS is going right now.
Just Praying that they extend support for all streams for all versions of windows 7.Its really annoying how MS is ironically ending support so quickly for windows 7 whereas windows XP lasted for such a long time.

You forgot that those feature updates are usually those windows live products that few people use and products like windows powershell with are rarely used by end users. We still have six years of security support for windows 7 which is more important. Maybe by that time Windows 10 or 11 would be ultracheap or free just like what apple did with mavericks.
Heck, there are several products that still support windows xp even though xp is already 13 years old and have no more MS support.
Avast even still issue updates to their 4.8 version which is the last version to support windows 98.
It is very hard to keep on updating outdated software with all the vulnerabilities discovered now and then.
The headline sounds ominous and is intended to draw your attention.
The body of the article pretty much outlines what PZPogi has explained.
I you’re life is guided by headlines than you will miss most of the important things in life.

This is the end of main stream support and then it goes into Extended support - it isn’t the end of the world again.
Microsoft continues to provide a period (also often five years) of extended support, which means users get free security fixes but other types of updates are paid and require specific licensing deals.
MS XP ended extended support in April 2014, but the world hasn’t stopped turning and it certainly won’t stop with the end of main stream support for win7.
Are you sure?
I’d better check ;D
So does this mean after mainstream and extended support finishes can we still use Windows 7. At our house we have 2 laptops with Windows 7 SP1 (mine and my younger brother) and 1 desktop with Windows 7 SP1. The desktop one my dad uses for work purposes when he does work remotely via his office while at home and also it has games installed for us to play.
I don’t want to upgrade the desktop into Windows 8 because it may cause issues and incompatibilities with my dad programs that he uses for work.
I only may think about upgrading only my laptop to Windows 8 OS, but that’s a long time away.
So when mainstream and extended support ends for Windows 7 we can still use it right though we won’t get security updates and fixes via Microsoft Update. We only should try to keep our antivirus software up-to-date and other programs such as Java, Adobe Reader, SAS Free, MBAM Free, and etc up-to-date right?

Extended support (security updates) is usually for a further 5 years after main stream support.
That really is a long way off to be making a decision, you may not have those systems in more than 5 years after main stream support ends.
So when mainstream and extended support ends for Windows 7 we can still use it right though we won't get security updates and fixes via Microsoft Update.
There are still many people using Windows XP :)
How about not upgrading into Windows 8 and only using up-to-date antivirus/antispyware programs. Will that work?
No, you also need to patch the security holes in your OS and that requires updates for your OS.
So I have to ask my dad who currently has his own programs installed in the desktop computer Windows 7 that he uses to do his office work connecting remotely to his office workstation during weekends and summer holidays while at home. I think at his workplace they use Windows 7 OS. When Windows 7 OS expires i think they will upgrade to Windows 8 OS I will have to ask him about that.
Windows 7 will still be receiving updates from MS for another 5 years.
I don’t understand why you’re so worried about this announcement from Microsoft ???
I can live with another 5 years :). Not so worried just wanting to know in advance
