Hi
I have a working setup with a server and 30 clients.
The server hardware is having problems, so I need to install a second server and move the client to the new one.
Which is the fastest and more affordable way to do this?
Thanks!
The easiest (but not always possible) is to give the new AMS the same DNS name and IP address as the previous one.
Just backup the avast DB on the old server, and restore it on the new.
Not possible! The two machine will live together on the same network, so the same name is not an option.
Which is the “not-so-easy” way?
Thanks
OK, even better - if the old AMS will still be online when you start using the new one, all you really need to do is put the name (or IP address) of the new AMS to the “AMS address” field in the Computer Group’s properties (on both the old and the new AMS).
The setting is on the “Communication” page.
Hope this helps,
Vlk
