Migration from Avast 4.8 ADNM to Avast 7 EAS

I actualy have Avast 4.8 managed by ADNM
I have my main server on my local network and 8 mirrors on subnetworks
200 computers in the domaine and 80 in furthers workgroups
All of that on multiples geographics places arround my region. I could not imagine, going on each computers one by one for deploying the new client/mirror and upgrading manualy avast.inf

Erverything working fine with Avast 4.8, but I have to migrate to Avast 7 untile the end of the year :frowning:

I’m searching for a good procedure for this migration.

  • Does Avast 7 AES is able to use Avast 4.8 ADNM database ? it seems not. Is there a tool to upgrade it ?
  • On Avast 7 EAS, IP discovering is not working, only AD discovering gives me a list of computers, but it’s less efficient (computer list not up to date, workgroup computers not listed, …) On avast 4.8 IP discovering was ok.

thanks for you help

I’m afraid that there is not an automatic procedure to migrate from ADNM 4.8 to AEA 7.

You have to install AEA 7 in your currents AMS, configure all your task/jobs, deploy the new clients and then, uninstall ADNM 4.8.

You can use the same MS SQL instance, if you are using MS SQL 2008, but the databases are completly diferents from ADNM 4.8 to AEA 7.

We have made several migrations from ADNM to AEA and, only in a customer, the discovery task works for workgroups.

My is install the new server for AEA 7 and don’t do any upgrade database, Like Edj said you can use MS SQL 2008 Server/Express.
In my experiance, from ADNM 4.8 deploy uninstall to some computer then reboot, after that deploy push install from AEA 7 to this computer.

it will got some problem in push install and automatic update but you could found the solution in this link http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=99130.30 for the automatic update.

Please, please, please: how did you make discovery to run in workgroup? That would save my life…

I’m sorry, but I don’t know how. :frowning:

We only ran the default “discovery” task and it worked. :-\

I ran discovery with this settings:

Basic detection use Lan Manager
adanced detection : detect all the network, try to detect IP including not resolving IP

The result is empty
