Hello, I just installed Avast home on my laptop with Miranda happily running that I discovered that the two together slows down heavily the machine.
Going down the problem I notice that Miranda is writing Log.Txt and Avast is continously checking it for problems.
Now, if I pause the IM provider, the machine wakes up again.
What bothers me that elsewhere it is stated that avast should ignore .TXT files, since they are not guilty… Why then is it stubborn on Miranda’s Log.Txt?
Why don’t you just exclude this file from scannig?
For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…
For the other providers (on-demmand scanning):
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button…
You can use wildcards like * and ? or just the path of the Log.txt 8)
Thanks Tech, but my issue is that LOG.TXT is already on the exclude list for the on-access scanning and that *.TXT is already on the exclude list for the on-demand scanning but Avast will still slow down consideably to scan it if I activate the IM provider.
