Missed exploit

Hello forum friends,

To-day I scanned my computer with Bitdefender Online Scanner,
files 47360 scan time: 00:26:33 1 file infected -
and it found Exploit:UNIX.Imail infected in RECYCLED\DC217.EXE.
It could not be disinfected, so the file was deleted.
When I did a full scan with Avast it missed this one. Why.
I am on Win 98 SE. Just before I updated a-squared and it missed it too. Who can comment on this,

regards,

polonus

Polonus, it would be useful to know the ‘original’ name for that exe file.
Other possibility are exclusion lists of avast, or access denied, on-silent scanning, etc.

From what I read in the "other anti-trojan software" sub-forum at www.wilderssecurity.com ,
in comparing the relative merits of Ewido & A-squared, if your emphasis is on "real-time"
protection, BUY A-squared, but if you want the better scanner, use Ewido, even the FREE version

Hi folks,

Thanx Spiritsongs for the advice, and Tech this thing will show up, because I forwarded the report to Bitdefender’s. I do not intend to go back to restore the situation before the scan to look for what DC 217.EXE stands for. I try to look with a restoration proggie, what was deleted.

greets,

polonus

I’d say the detection seems a little suspicious.
Exploit:UNIX:Imail in an EXE file… sounds like false alarm to me - but I’m guessing just by the name, so I may be wrong.
