Missing Avast Icon on System Tray

Hi Everybody!

I got 4.5 Avast Home Edition and been using it for a year now until
lately I could’nt find Avast icon on my system tray. I got Win XP Pro
and could’nt get Avast to run on start-up since there is no settings
for it on the avast program itself. Could anyone help me on this.
Thanks!

Reynaldo

Thanks Eddy for the response. I tried to browse on thread you
referred me to and got the idea that maybe I should reinstalled
the program. The thing is should I reinstall from the latest version
coz I already had updated it so many times before.

Thanks again,
Reynaldo

No, first try a repair. (Don’t forget to reboot after doing so)
If that fails, try the AEC util.

I’m gonna try to do that Eddy.
Thanks and appreciate it very much!

Sometimes, it’s as easy as repairing your avast installation through Control Panel.
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).

What other security based software do you have that might block new startup entries, e.g. Spybot S&D (TeaTimer), AdAware (AdWatch), SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor (StartUpGuard), PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc.?
