Missing file on RC1A pro client

Just finished remotelyinstalling the first RC1A pro desktop client on a w2k pro machine. When accessing avast from the start menu, after it does the memory check I get a pop up window with unkown error. The error message is: application cannot load help file c:\program files\alwil software\avast4\english\help\checklistsimple.chm. The install completed without any visible errors. The next message has the directory listing of the instpkgs directory. I will email the install log to vlk’s email.

Here is the directory listing of the instpkgs directory:

After you click ok it brings up the gui without a problem and everything works fine.

So the only file missing is CheckListSimple.chm?

Greetings from Paris,
Vlk

Yes, I copy the file over from previous installations and it runs clean after that.

Au Revoir from MA, United States

Seems like a trivial omission in the install script then. Thanks for noting…

Salut from Bayeux, Normandy.
BTW it’s quite a deal to find an Internet connection here… ;D

Interesting, really. I’ve checked the scripts and they’re OK. Did you have the English Help checkbox selected in the installation package?
Is there a standard help file installed (try pressing F1 in the avast GUI or select Help from the menu).

Thanks
Vlk

I did not have the english help box checked in the install package. I just took the defaults. I have since fixed that oversight. However, it did install the standard help file anyway. How is that for interesting?

Hmm, interesting, that means 2 problem turned to two:

  1. the help is installed even if you don’t want it to be
  2. the help option is not turned on by default even though it should be.

BTW was it a client or server install? (I mean install package for avast! NetClient or avast! NetServer?)

Thanks
Vlk

It happens on both the workstation and the server installs. Same behaviour.
