Hi there guys.
I am the Original Poster of this thread. If you recall, I can’t get the Avast icons to appear automatically on bootup so I am now using Avast as an on-demand scanner only.
As Technical says, I can run “ashSimple.exe” (or “ashSimp2.exe” for on-demand scanning and update.
I find I can also right click a file and use the Avast entry in the context menu to provide an on-demand scan of that file.
And I can manually run “ashDisp.exe” in order to force the appearance of the system tray icon.
However, I do not want Avast to run its services (even if they help to provide automatic updates). I would far rather do a manual update just before I perform an on-demand scan. Extra services are an extra load on my small PC.
So my QUESTION in this posting is how do I ask Avast not to run its two services “avast! Antivirus” and “avast iAVS Control Service”?
