Misssing tools and services for the same version of Avast Free

Hi guys,

I just bought a new computer and installed the latest version of Avast Free. I have been a user of Avast Free for many years but now I just discovered something that I cannot understand and that I would like to have explained.

On my old computer, a Win7, under Tools, I had the Remote Assistance option and under the Scan category, I had the possibility to scan for outdated software on my computer. Now, on my new computer, a Win 8.1, none of these tools are present! This really bugs me out since I used the Remote Assistance tool to help out my parents with their various computer problems. I also had use of the outdated software scanning tool. My girlfriend also installed Avast Free on her Win 8.1 computer and now there is even still more inconsistencies. For example, she has the Remote Assistance tool but does not have the outdated SW scan tool. I dont understand this. All instances of Avast Free are registered btw.

Is there an explanation for this and is there any way to get these services/tools back?

Thanks for the help and thanks for an otherwise great product!

Regards
Vic

To answer your specific question, you should see in “Tools” the “Software Updater” function. Is it not there? (see attachment)

This “Software Updater” is a tool that does what you’ve mentioned, that is “scan for outdated software on my computer” and offer updates on these “outdated” applications. You’re perhaps not aware of the more recent “tools” available on the latest Avast that you’ve said you have just installed.

Thanks a million! That did indeed solve my problem.
