Using windows XP, whenever I try to access Services, MMC crashes (specifically the “mshtml.dll” module). If I remove Avast from memory, it opens with no problem. Any ideas?
Yoni,

That did the trick, thanks… I did stumble across that post, but didn’t think it applied to my situation. Glad I was wrong!
Well done and welcome to the forum
Obviously, those are not my words of wisdom. It is the forum moderator who has the brains

Wait a moment… that did the trick…? :o :o
What version of avast do you have? The thing written in that thread Walker linked to absolutely positively only applies to avast! Server Edition… : Executing this command while having installed avast Home or Professional should normally end up with an error message like ‘module not found’ (avascr.dll does not even exist in the installation of avast home/pro…)
Sorry Vlk if it was a wrong reference. I was ‘pointing’ to it as a ‘general idea’.
Still if it worked, you must be brainier than I originally suggested .

Vlk,
I have Avast 4.1 Professional. I just ran the regsvr32 command on ahascr.dll instead of avascr.dll and it worked (since I couldn’t find the avascr.dll file, I figured ahascr.dll is the closest to it).
yoni you figured it quite correctly. you’re pretty sharp…
