Modifying Profile

As a new kid on the block I’m attempting to customize my profile but have only been able to set my moniker and password retrieval hint. I would like to add an icon, time zone and a signature that contains system, version, internet browser and so on. I’m not finding the help text helpful (even though readable) at this moment.

XP Sp3 IE8 Avast! Internet Security 6.0.1000

you need to reach 20 posts before you can do that

Thank you Logos! Can I remove the ability to be contacted by email? The check box is checked.

Welcome to the forum If the box is already checked, then the only ones able to
see your email address are you and the Mods.
It is not visible to any one else.

If you dont want the reply’s to you post’s being sent to you via email by all mean’s you can untick that box.

Easier then that…Use a disposable email address. ;D

Unchecking the box make email visible. Check the box to hide your email address.

yeah I think craig just confused email notifications and email show/hide options

Thank you all, I don’t mind at all if the moderators have access to the email address.

One more question for today: Why do I need to keep signing back in when the stay signed in box is checked?

Are you cleaning out your temp file, cookies and cache all the time? Do you have your browser set to delete history upon closing? If so then thats why.

That could be it ;D

I’m still in the same session and my logged time is accurate. The refresh button seems to trigger it. The back button is okay.

Rats, now it’s behaving. Randomness, I was accessing the forum via the help function before. Now I’m on through a link from the emails. Could be OHS.

Are you using FF,IE,Chrome or Opera? When you refresh a page that can do it if your history is set to not remember.

nope, if history (globally, not just “history”) is set to not be remembered at all in FF for instance, then you’re switched to “private browsing” like mode, and everything is still being “remembered” in memory, as long as you don’t leave the session. So reloading a page will certainly not log you off.

IE8 but not InPrivate.

I lied: Why is posting blocked when an unread update occurs before post is hit?

it’s not blocked, it’s just a warning to give you the opportunity to read the new post and adjust yours if necessary  >>> and you can bypass it.

ps: first time on a forum?

???

Not quite green - familiar with Microsoft forums and this is just a little different - like the page doesn’t update on refresh. Bypass it how?

You aren’t alone, I have cookies enabled, don’t delete history on closing firefox/pale moon, etc. etc. but recently this started to happen. Why is the $64,000 question.

by ignoring the warning and click on “post” again
