Hi, I’m using Avast Home 4.8 and Windows XP. Ever since I installed Avast I can’t get my monitor to go into the power saving shutdown mode. If I go into the display settings and reset the time until shutdown it will work until I shut down the entire computer for the night. After I restart the computer the next day, no more monitor power saver. Any suggestions? Paul
Well I have no problem on my system, monitor powers down to standby after 5 minutes (winXP Pro SP3).
avast! should have no effect on the settings you chose or on standby, unless you are having avast run scans when the system is idle or screen saver, etc. The other time there might be any possibly interaction is how you have the Generate VRDB set, again system idle or screen saver.
You don’t mention if you use a screen saver (presumable not or the standby wouldn’t work anyway) or if you are having avast scan files or generate the VRDB whilst the system is idle, etc.
Any power saving different configuration at BIOS?
Which is your computer (model, RAM, etc.)?
